Physical Fitness: Making Exercise a Habit The number one reason most people say they don't exercise is lack of time. If you find it difficult to fit extended periods of exercise into your schedule, keep in mind that short bouts of physical activity in 10-minute segments will nonetheless help you achieve health benefits. Advises Permuth-Levine, "Even in the absence of weight loss, relatively brief periods of exercise every day reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease." Set realistic goals and take small steps to fit more movement into your daily life, such as taking the stairs instead of the elevator and walking to the grocery store instead of driving. "The key is to start gradually and be prepared," says Permuth-Levine. "Have your shoes, pedometer, and music ready so you don't have any excuses." To help you stick with your new exercise habit, vary your routine, like swimming one day and walking the next. Get out and start a baseball or soccer game with your kids. Even if the weather doesn't cooperate, have a plan B — use an exercise bike in your home, scope out exercise equipment at a nearby community center, or consider joining a health club. 

The trick is to get to the point where you look at exercise like brushing your teeth and getting enough sleep — as essential to your well-being. Remember that physical fitness is attainable. Even with small changes, you can reap big rewards that will pay off for years to come.

Since Colds And Flu Are  caused by viruses, rather than bacteria, antibiotics are not an effective treatment option. There is Influenza, or the flu, and the common cold can be tricky to tell apart. Both the common cold and the flu are contagious, but cold symptoms tend to be milder and improve within a week to 10 days While most people who get the flu recover in less than two weeks, symptoms are more severe and serious complications such as pneumonia, bronchitis, and sinus or ear infections can develop. Stress In Our Everyday Life  In today's life everyone has stress related jobs, bills to pay, laid off, and nowhere  to  go. I find that using exercise to beat stress helps in my everyday life. Daily Exercise May Cut Heart Attacks

Regular physical activity may reduce the risk of a heart attack,even in areas with  moderate-to-high

levels of pollution.Exercise reduces heart attacks,asthma and chronic lung disease.

Moderate cycling for four or more hours per week will cut the risk for recurrent heart attacks by 31 percent.

Those who participated in sports had 15 percent lower rate of initial heart attacks and 9 percent 

reduction associated with cycling,regardless of air quality.

In children it reduces attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder.

A study indicated that children with ADHD who received canine assisted in intervention

(CAI) experienced a reduction in inattention and improvement in social skills.

Exercise For Children

It is really a shame that so many kids are not getting enough exercise today. First Lady Michelle Obama is taking her efforts to curb childhood obesity to record-setting levels — at least for a day. On  Michelle Obama, Obama will lead thousands of D.C. schoolchildren in jumping jacks on the White House lawn in an attempt to break the Guinness World Record for the most people doing jumping jacks in a 24-hour period.

The “Let’s Jump” event is led by National Geographic Kids, and it ties in perfectly with Obama’s “Let’s Move” campaign, which is the first lady’s initiative to combat childhood obesity around the country. Obama often hosts fitness events on the White House lawn as part of her campaign, but this is her first attempt at a world record.

Dogs Help Older Adults Move More

Dogs aren't just man's best friend,they make good activity partners for older adults.

Older adults with canine friends spend lots more time walking and active than those

who don't own a dog.

A study that involved 43 dog owners that were over 65 years of  age wore an activity

monitor for three 1-week periods over a year,found owners spent more time with their

pets  and added an additional 22 minutes per day walking.They also found they spent

less time sitting.

Health professional are encouraging the use of a pet as you get older to help keep you

young and help you exercise to live a longer and happy life.
